Yellowstone grizzly sow might have killed 2 people. She is killed
There were two incidents of deaths by a grizzly this summer. One being a couple attacked at Wapiti Lake near Canyon another being a hiker found dead in the Hayden Valley. The couple, hiking in Yellowstone Park were attacked, as they surprised a grizzly bear, who was seen with her cubs. They made a fatal mistake by yelling and screaming at the bear, which made the sow to pursue on them. The man was soon dead, but the woman was saved as she dropped face down and did not fight back. A 59 year old lone hiker was assaulted and killed by the grizzly at Hayden Valley. DNA analysis showed that both the fatalities were caused by the same grizzly. She was later euthanized to avoid future attacks with the visitors and staff. Her cubs were taken to the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Centre in West Yellowstone.
